Nothing beats a traditional fruit cake at Christmas. Fruit cakes date back to Roman times and later became popular in Victorian England as a vital part of celebrating holidays such as Christmas and Easter. All Janet’s Cakes and Bakes Christmas cakes are made and matured up to 3 months in advance. Our dark, rich cakes are packed with fruit, nuts and(optional), spices and mixed peel. Cakes are fed with whiskey or brandy during their maturity before being covered with marzipan and royal icing just before Christmas. Orange juice can be used as an alternative to alcohol.
